Dining at Baines’ River Camp offers more than just a meal, it is a culinary experience set against one of the most breathtaking backdrops. Despite the camp’s remote location, our chefs and Food & Beverage team continually strive to deliver the highest quality dining, carefully balancing sustainability, community support, and fresh ingredients sourced from local and reputable providers.
Baines’ River Camp’s remote location means that certain ingredients, such as avocados and other produce, are only available seasonally. We embrace this seasonality, tailoring our menus to make the best use of what is fresh and available. Although logistical constraints sometimes limit access to year-round ingredients, our kitchen team is skilled at adapting and creating meals that reflect the seasons while still maintaining high standards of quality.

An 'out-of-this-world' experience. A top 3 holiday experience. - This resort combines all the luxury of 5 (++++) star accommodation, superb cuisine, and a true African bush experience. Who could ask for anything better? The highlight 'cuisine-wise'... read more was a 'surprise' meal in the bush - linen napkins combining with the sounds and smells of the african night and a roaring campfire. The highlight 'sundowner-wise' was a trip down the Zambezi and stopping off at an island for more sundowners and a game of boules (petanque). The highlight 'day-time' activity was the boat ride (bypassing loads of hippo and crocodiles) down to the Zambian National park where we were picked up by game-viewing vehicles and saw the most amazing game - up close and personal. (We learnt that the owners of Baines have invested hugely in the development and maintenance of the game park - particularly with regards to anti-poaching - hats off to them) .. A close second to the game viewing was of course the tiger fishing .. but since I didn't catch a mighty tiger .. that slips into second place! And then of course there was reading a book on the banks of the Zambezi after an exhilirating swim in the pool . sipping my gin and tonic in the complete peace and quiet.
An altogether fabulous experience . and certainly one of my top 3 holiday experiences of all time. Highly recommended.
A simply magical place. - What a fantastic way to fully immerse yourself in the wildlife of the bush. It was a perfect way to explore using foot, jeep & boat. We'd return in a heartbeat and I'd recommend Baines camp without hesitation. Go there! Go as soon as you can!
