With 8 luxury, freestanding suites and 1 cottage featuring two bedrooms, Baines’ River Camp is ideally suited to groups of 10 singles, or 16–20 guests on a sharing basis, making it a natural fit for executive leadership teams, sales incentive groups, and mid-sized corporate retreats. The camp’s intimate scale means your group can have the entire property to themselves, without the noise and distraction of a larger resort. A key advantage when the goal is genuine connection, focus, or celebration.
Yes. Baines’ offers a dedicated space for meetings, presentations and strategic sessions, allowing groups to move fluidly between structured work time and the extraordinary natural setting of the Lower Zambezi. This blend of boardroom capability and wilderness immersion is what sets a safari corporate retreat apart from a conventional conference venue.
Yes. WiFi is available in all guest rooms and the main building. It’s worth noting that there is no mobile signal at camp. Calls home are best made via WhatsApp over the WiFi connection. For corporate groups, this setup strikes a practical balance: you can stay connected when needed, and the absence of cellular distraction naturally encourages more present, focused conversation when you choose to switch off.
Absolutely. Every corporate and incentive group is different, and Baines’ builds each itinerary around your specific objectives – whether that’s a structured leadership programme, a celebration of a top-performing sales team, or a combination of guided activities and free time. From curated bush dinners and game drives to tiger fishing on the Zambezi, the experience is shaped around what will resonate most with your people.
Baines’ is one of the most distinctive sales incentive trip destinations in Africa. For high performers who have seen the typical European city break or beach resort, an exclusive-use luxury safari lodge on the Zambezi River is genuinely aspirational. The kind of reward that earns loyalty, drives future performance, and creates stories your team will still be telling years later. The exclusivity of a private camp, combined with the drama of the Lower Zambezi, makes it a standout choice for incentive travel planners seeking something beyond the expected.
Groups at Baines’ can choose from a full range of experiences tailored to your itinerary. Core activities include guided game drives, river safaris, safari walks with expert trackers, and immersive wildlife encounters in the Lower Zambezi. Tiger fishing on the Zambezi River is a standout option for incentive groups. It is competitive, adrenaline-charged, and entirely unique to this part of Africa. Evenings typically centre around shared meals, sundowners on the river and fireside gatherings; the moments that build real team cohesion.
Yes. Baines’ River Camp is available for exclusive-use bookings, which is the recommended option for corporate retreats and incentive travel groups. Exclusive use means your team has the entire camp, its staff and all its facilities to yourselves. There are no other guests, no competing agendas, and no distractions. This level of privacy and dedicated service is what distinguishes a Baines’ retreat from a standard group booking at a larger hotel or lodge.
Baines’ River Camp is situated on the banks of the Zambezi River in the Chiawa Game Management Area, adjacent to the Lower Zambezi National Park in Zambia – one of the last truly remote wilderness areas in southern Africa. The most common access route is a short 30-minute chartered flight from Lusaka to Royal Airstrip, followed by a 30-minute game drive transfer into camp. Lusaka is well connected internationally, with direct or one-stop flights from Johannesburg, Cape Town, Dubai, Doha, Nairobi and other major hubs. The journey itself sets the tone: by the time your team arrives at camp, the shift away from the everyday has already begun.
The Lower Zambezi offers something rare in African safari travel: an uncluttered, remote wilderness that still feels genuinely wild, combined with easy regional access and a strong year-round offering. Unlike more tourist-heavy destinations, the Lower Zambezi has a small number of carefully placed camps, which means the game viewing is exceptional and the sense of exclusivity is real. For corporate groups, this translates into an environment where attention is naturally focused, conversations go deeper, and the shared experience feels genuinely special.
Baines’ River Camp is open from 1 March to 30 November each year. For corporate and incentive groups, the dry season months of July to October (High Season) offer the best game viewing conditions: low vegetation and animals concentrated around the Zambezi River create extraordinary wildlife sightings. Tiger fishing is at its best from September through to November, and again in March and April, making these windows particularly popular for incentive groups looking to add a high-energy, competitive activity to the itinerary. The Green Season months (March to June and November) offer a more affordable rate while still delivering a beautiful and immersive experience.
The best starting point is to reach out directly via the enquiry form on this page. From there, the Baines’ team will work with you to understand your group’s size, objectives, preferred dates and budget, and will put together a tailored itinerary and proposal. For incentive travel managers and event planners, Baines’ can also work through your preferred travel management company or DMC. The team can assist with flight logistics and routing from your point of origin. Early planning is recommended, particularly for exclusive-use bookings during the High Season months of July to October.
Yes, and this is one of Baines’ genuine strengths. The camp’s setting, removed from urban distraction, surrounded by extraordinary nature, creates the conditions for the kind of clear thinking and candid conversation that rarely happens in a boardroom or city hotel. Senior leadership teams often find that a few days at Baines’ produces more genuine strategic alignment than weeks of conventional offsite sessions. The combination of shared experiences, unhurried mealtimes and a truly quiet environment accelerates trust and decision-making in a way that’s difficult to replicate elsewhere.
