This curated safari itinerary seamlessly combines three of Zambia’s National Parks, weaving them into a thrilling odyssey of exploration. Embark on a transformative expedition that starts with the expansive and secluded embrace of Zambia’s largest National Park, followed by an immersion into the South Luangwa region, aptly referred to as “The Valley of the Leopard”. Your extraordinary journey finishes with a gentle landing at Baines’ River Camp, nestled in the heart of the Lower Zambezi Valley. With a combination of owner-run camps, led by specialists in their field, a kaleidoscope of activities and unfiltered encounters with untamed wildlife, this voyage promises to elevate you from a mere tourist to a fervent explorer.
Welcome to Zambia! Arrive at Lusaka International Airport.
Catch a charter flight to Lufupa airstrip in Kafue National Park, one of Africa’s largest and least-explored gems.
Arrive at Musekese Camp, an owner run camp in a wild and remote section of the park.
Embark on game drives led by experienced guides, traverse open plains and dense woodlands and explore the river system on flat-bottomed river boats. For the keen photographers, there are specially adapted camera mounts to ensure complete stability for your perfect shot.
A short road transfer will have you at the renowned Flatdogs Camp, an owner run camp offering the ideal blend of comfort and wilderness. Embark on game drives in the South Luangwa National Park, renowned for its high concentration of wildlife. Encounter leopards, elephants, buffalo, and a myriad of bird species in their natural habitats.
Today you will depart Flatdogs for the start of your walking safari with Remote Africa Safaris. A two hour road transfer will have you at the river where you will cross by canoe with luggage, and begin your walk to Chikoko Tree Camp.
The Chikoko Walking adventure combines two remote camps in an area of the South Luangwa National Park inaccessible to vehicles. You will spend two nights at Chikoko Tree Camp and 1 night at Big Lagoon (or visa versa).
Your days will be spent discovering this unique habitat, from the fascinating insects that live within animal droppings, tiny elephant shrews, curious hyena, the endemic Thornicroft’s giraffe, enormous elephant and huge herds of buffalo with prides of lion in tow. Predators become the prey as you track lions’ prints from the night before to their resting place of that day.
After six unforgettable nights in the Luangwa Valley, it’s time to say goodbye to the team at Remote Africa Safaris. You will be transferred in a light aircraft to your next destination, the Lower Zambezi Valley. This is an incredibly scenic flight as your pilot takes you over the escarpment and winds down into this magnificent valley. Upon landing, you will be met by your safari guide and transferred by open game viewer to Baines’ River Camp.
