CONSERVATION

Baines' River Camp management and staff are dedicated conservationists.

We work closely with the Zambian Wildlife Authority to preserve the natural heritage of the region. In some emergencies where elephant have been injured we have air-lifted vets into the Lower Zambezi Valley and supplied them with transport, equipment and staff to attend to the animals.

We use best practice in our camp management at all times and contribute to the local conservation bodies to help with their animal protection projects. (CLZ - see below)

Here are some very graphic images showing the kind of team work in saving an elephant's leg that had been caught in a poachers snare. This was a Baines' River Camp initiative.

Baines' River Camp is proudly associated with Conservation Lower Zambezi (CLZ) which is a membership based organization operating entirely from donations and who have the mandate of:

"Providing a safe refuge for elephants and other wildlife of the Lower Zambezi National Park in Zambia"
